Wind energy projects account for almost half of the work undertaken by Neo Environmental, with increasing demand, particularly for bespoke services including: LVIA’s, Radar Assessments, Acoustic Assessments and feasibility Studies.
The company is fortunate to have excellent individuals within all the major environmental and technical disciplines.
45MW Wind Farm in Ireland
Neo Environmental has expanded its geographical client base and has successfully tendered for the environmental assessment work of a 45MW wind farm on the west coast of Ireland. The contract will see the company undertake most of the environmental assessment work for the project including landscape, noise, shadow flicker and heritage assessments.
Feasibility Study for a 60MW wind Farm site in Scottish Borders
We undertook a comprehensive assessment of the potential for a 60MW project in the Scottish Borders area on behalf of a client. This included constraint mapping analysis, radar impact, grid assessment, EIA analysis (ecology, heritage, hydrology, soil, landscape, noise, shadow flicker, etc.), cumulative impacts and policy compliance.
Repowering of a Wind Farmin Great Yarmouth
Neo Environmental has obtained consent for the repowering of Bloodhills Wind Farm in Great Yarmouth. The project involves the replacement of the current wind turbines with more efficient, modern generators of a similar scale and design. The original wind farm has been in operation since the early 90’s, demonstrating the sustainable nature of such wind energy projects.
1.8MW Wind project in Orkney
Neo Environmental has been commissioned to undertake an Environmental Impact Assessment for the installation of two 900kW wind turbines and the associated infrastructure in Orkney. The project will generate an estimated 5,520,000 units of electricity with the capability of powering up to 1,174 homes and will result in a reduction of 2,373 tonnes of CO2 per annum.
12 x 20-100kW Wind Turbines in Wales
Neo Environmental has obtained consent for twelve 20-100kW wind turbine projects in Wales on behalf of the same wind developer. We currently have over twenty projects including a 100kW hydro scheme in Wales.
2 x 500kW Wind Turbine in Cornwall
Neo Environmental has been commissioned to undertake an Environmental Impact Assessment for two further 500kW projects in Cornwall. The projects are located in close proximity and involve public engagement, and a complex Habitat Restoration proposal.
500kW Wind Turbine at collation, Cornwall
Neo Environmental has been successful in gaining planning permission for a 500kW wind turbine in Cornwall. An EIA was required for this project and was conducted in a time frame of 6 months from scoping to final decision. The project included three months of bird survey work, a detailed cumulative noise assessment using the new IOA good practice guide and a geophysical study. The project only attracted 3 objections over the course of the planning process.
